"2 pots" is Ilk's first original lithograph, usually accustomed to risography. This series produced at Idem Paris, with whom Koméla has collaborated since its beginnings, is not therefore the reproduction of an existing work but rather an original and exclusive creation.
Thus, Ilk went to the studio of the 14th district of Paris to draw his contemporary pots and plants on a hundred-year-old limestone, chosen for its format and for its marks and other flaws showing its history. The drawing on the stone having been erased just after printing, this lithograph becomes an original work whose rarity is equaled only by its quality.
The work "2 pots" illustrates a subject of preference of the artist, the still lifes, one of his current themes of research and exploration.
Each print has two colors that were printed on a 19th century press : the main drawing from the stone and the background from an aluminum plate. These two successive layers, in the way they were imagined, also allow to play on matching shapes and recuts of which Ilk has the secret and that he experiences in painting as well.
Available in two shaded versions, Corail and Turquoise, this work offers two series of which all the copies had been handfinished with acrylic in order to present a lithograph astride edition and unique work of art.
